Historical brent prices monthly

This dataset consists of Europe Brent and WTI (Western Texas Intermediate) monthly spot prices from EIA U.S. (Energy Information Administration). Monthly prices are calculated by EIA (U.S. Energy Information Administration) from daily data by taking an unweighted average of the daily closing spot prices for a given product over the specified time period. Oil Price (Brent Crude and WTI) The price of oil is the most important value on international commodity markets since crude oil is the most important commodity.

Prices are based on historical free market (stripper) oil prices of Illinois Crude as presented by Illinois Oil and Gas Association and Plains All American Oil. Typically Illinois Crude is a couple of dollars cheaper per barrel than West Texas Intermediate (WTI) because it requires a bit more refining.
